1. What cookies are, and the law that covers them

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device. Some are essential for a service to work. Others are used to remember your choices or to measure and track how you use a site. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in the same way and are covered by this policy too.

In the UK, cookies are governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), alongside the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 for any personal data a cookie involves. Under PECR, we must tell you about the cookies we use and, for anything beyond what is strictly necessary, ask for your consent before we set them. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) regulates and provides guidance on this atico.org.uk.

2. What this website uses

No cookies. The pages on this website do not set cookies or store anything on your device. Our fonts and images are served from the site itself, not from third parties, and we do not use advertising or marketing tools.

We do use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages are popular. It is built to be cookie-free: it does not use cookies, does not use any other persistent identifier on your device, and cannot follow you across other websites or identify you individually. Because it sets nothing on your device, it is not a "cookie" for the purposes of this policy and does not need your consent or a banner.

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, also delivers the site and handles some security checks. At the time of writing, none of that sets cookies on this website either. If that ever changes, or if we add anything that does set a cookie beyond what is described in section 3, we will list it here and add a consent banner first if it is not strictly necessary (see section 4).

3. Services that can set their own cookies

The security check on our enquiry form

The contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check that helps us keep automated spam out. It loads a small script from Cloudflare, and in our testing it does not set any cookies or local storage on this website. The check runs in a frame that belongs to Cloudflare, so anything stored there is governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Stripe checkout

When you choose to buy an assessment, you go to Stripe's secure payment page. That page is run by Stripe, not by us, and it uses cookies and similar technologies for security, fraud prevention and to make the payment work. Please read Stripe's privacy policy for details.

Our self-serve tool

Our self-serve tool runs at a separate address (tools.innoligo.com). Once you have paid, it sets one essential cookie that proves you have access, so you are not asked to pay again while you use it. It is a signed cookie that lasts up to 24 hours and is not used for tracking or advertising.

4. Essential cookies and your consent

PECR exempts cookies that are "strictly necessary" for a service you have specifically asked for, from the requirement to get your consent. The self-serve tool's access cookie, described above, falls squarely within that exemption: without it, the paid service you have just bought cannot work. We do not need, and do not ask for, your consent to set it. Because this website itself sets no cookies at all, and our analytics is cookie-free, there is nothing on it that needs a cookie consent banner.

If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, for example for analytics or advertising, PECR requires us to ask for your consent before it is set, not after. We will add a consent banner that lets you accept or reject it with equal ease, explain clearly what it does, and update this policy before we do it. We will never rely on a pre-ticked box or continued browsing as consent.

5. Controlling and withdrawing consent

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of a service from working, for example our self-serve tool after payment. The website "About cookies" page at aboutcookies.org explains how to do this in common browsers. If we ever introduce cookies that need your consent, withdrawing it will be as easy as giving it, for example through a link in the footer of this page.

6. Questions, complaints and changes

If you have any question about this policy, email [email protected]. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data, and how to complain to the ICO if you are unhappy with our answer. We may update this policy, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
